This publication is intended principally to serve as a showcase for some of Carbonaro’s landscapes from the last decade or so. Whilst fulfilling its primary purpose, this catalogue has also been burdened with a body of text.
When I was asked by one of my oldest and dearest friends to pen a few words to accompany the illustrations, I could not help but allude to the artist’s own inimitable lifestyle and character. His penchant for travel and his appreciation of the good things in live, which are discerned by unadorned quality, are reflected in his own artistic output, which is characterised by a varied landscape put down on canvas in its stunning essentials.
It has not been my intention to analyse each and every painting individually; rather to give a general back-ground and modus operandi of the artist that may aid the reader better understand the works of art illustrated.
I know there is a school of thought that opines that each and every work of art has an independent existence and should be seen and judged on its own merits, irrespective of its temporal setting and the background and character of its artist. If the reader holds this view, then I would urge you to ignore the text and simply feast your eyes on the display of colour that is assembled between these covers. For you, the paintings will speak for themselves.
If, on the other hand, the reader should be curious to learn something of the artist that lurks behind these paintings, a measure of enlightenment may be found in the perusal of these pages.
