Description
This study represents a new beginning and a novel approach to examining Antoine Camilleri’s work. It concentrates on a single artwork from 1982, which I believe encapsulates the entirety of the artist’s oeuvre. Created when Camilleri was 60 years old, this mature piece references and brings into focus several other key works by the artist that relate to its content. I have personally witnessed its creation and engaged in numerous discussions with the artist about its main concepts. The artwork, titled “PRAYER,” was executed in 1982 during a highly prolific period in Camilleri’s career. This publication offers an intimate study of “PRAYER,” providing a closer and more comprehensive look at its content, and enhancing appreciation and understanding of Antoine Camilleri’s entire body of work.
