In terms of content, this book reflects on Buddhism.
From a temporal aspect, this book includes two realities:
The narrator throughout the story is Simon, who lives in modern-day Paris, but lived in Tibet as a Svastika in his past life.
Svastika was the uncle of Milarepa, the story’s eponymous protagonist. It’s because of a recurring dream that Simon learns of Milarepa and Svastika’s story; he sees a strange landscape, mysterious and unknown, but is still confused. He has this dream every night and leaves Simon with ever-stronger impressions that start to influence his behaviour. One day, he’s in a bar and starts talking to a clever woman who explains everything…
