Description
The mid-Mediterranean island of Gozo, like most islands located in an enclosed sea, displays the transitional character of border districts. It became the outpost of the surrounding shores and, therefore, the first objective of every expanding movement – whether commercial, political, or cultural – setting out from the adjacent coasts. Like all such islands, Gozo was swept by successive waves of conquest of colonization and it carries in its people, custom, and language evidences of the remnants left behind on its shores. All this, combined with the blessings that nature has bestowed upon it, makes Gozo an island of gorgeous beauty that can boast of a multi-millennial history and a fascinating culture.
