Professor Stanley Fiorini’s comprehensive collection of documents on medieval Malta, which are housed in Palermo’s State Archives.
The present volume covers the years 1500-1515. The gap, down to 1530, is closing fast; after that year; with the arrivial of the Order of St John in Malta, these records cease to occipy centre-stage in Maltese political and adminitrative affairs. The contents of the present volume – a total of 405 documents – are paticularly significant because they cover neatly the gap in local municipal records – the Acta Juratorum et Consilii Civitatis et Insualae Maltae – which, for the sixteenth century, only starts at 1512.
