The Pringles make Anne’s life as a principal difficult, as she encounters problems and hostility both at school and in the neighbourhood. As is typical of Anne, she gets involved in the residents’ lives, changes it for the better and fixes alliances, which otherwise would be dangling in mid-air- Little Elizabeth, Katherine, Terry, and Dovie.
