This publication begins by looking back to the 1930s when airline travel was still in its infancy. It then records the development and tremendous progress registered, decade by decade, up to the year 2000 highlighting the important developments in airline travel and the respective civil aviation in Malta. in its 480 pages, the book contains over 890 splendid illustrations, of which over 790 are in full colour, most of which are being published for the first time. The Photo Album section contains the vast majority of these photos, three to a page, and covers the period between the 1960s up to the year 200. The illustrations portray over 150 aircraft types and 440 different airlines. This book also contains an illustrated history of the present Air Malta and its early predecessor. Appendices include important statistics regarding airline travel to and from Malta. A history, description and performance of airlines in contained in a separate appendix. Sponsored by the Malta International Airport plc, this publication has been published by the Malta Aviation Museum Foundation. All proceeds go to its Museum Fund. It should appeal to all those who have an interest in the airline industry besides all those aviation enthusiasts who wish to have a pictorial record of the variety of aircraft which have used Malta’s airports.
