In 1994, on the occasion of the 180th anniversary of the Malta Police Force, Eddie Attard published his first book about the history of the Force, covering the period 1800–1956.
Since then, he has published two other books on the same subject and has extended his work to the year 1964, when under the Independence Constitution, control of the police was vested in the government of the day.
It was also when he was still in the police force that he began his research about the history of crime in Malta, especially homicide cases.’
