Andy Seed is a British children’s author, humourist and poet who has written dozens of books for young readers and adults that combine fun, facts, activities, stories and wordplay. He began writing professionally in 2000 after a long career as a primary school teacher and deputy head, and his books range from non‑fiction fact books and Q&A titles to humorous poetry and fiction and memoirs about teaching.
Seed’s popular works include The Silly Book of Side‑Splitting Stuff (winner of the Blue Peter Best Book with Facts Award), The Clue is in the Poo, the Interview With… animal and historical series, memoirs such as All Teachers Great and Small, as well as On the Track, a non‑fiction information book for children that helps young readers build their reading skills while learning about track cycling. The book is part of the Collins Big Cat reading scheme, designed with short chapters, clear text, a glossary and index to support comprehension and information‑finding skills, making it suitable for school reading practice as well as general interest. It explains the history of track cycling, the types of bikes and races involved, and introduces readers to the excitement of the sport in an accessible and engaging way.
Seed frequently visits schools to inspire children to enjoy reading and writing and is known for his accessible, witty style and enthusiasm for encouraging young people to engage with books.
