Amy Sparkes

Amy Sparkes is a British children’s author celebrated for her imaginative middle-grade fantasy series The House at the Edge of Magic, which includes The House at the Edge of Magic, The Tower at the End of Time, The Bookshop at the Back of Beyond and The Lighthouse at the World’s End.

She was born in Eastbourne, England, and grew up with a vivid imagination that included having thirteen imaginary friends, a sign of the whimsical creativity that now infuses her writing. Amy Sparkes began writing at the age of five, but it was only after relocating to South-West England and starting a family that she committed to writing seriously.

Amy lives in Devon, England, with her husband and five young children. When she is not off on adventures with her family, she enjoys simple pleasures like drinking tea, climbing trees, and dancing. Her books are beloved for their magical worlds, quirky characters and humour, perfect for young readers who love fantasy and adventure. Her stories have been recognised by several award bodies, including the Roald Dahl Funny Prize and the BookTrust Best Books Awards. Amy runs workshops for children’s authors, to support emerging writers.
