Allan Ahlberg

Allan Ahlberg (born 1938) is a celebrated British children’s author known for his imaginative, humorous, and engaging books. Before becoming a writer, he worked as a teacher, postman, and gravedigger, experiences that often inspired his storytelling. He is best known for collaborating with his wife, illustrator Janet Ahlberg, to create some of the most beloved picture books in children’s literature.

Ahlberg wrote The Jolly Postman or Other People’s Letters, a highly original book featuring letters and envelopes that children can take out and read, making it interactive and fun. He also wrote Peepo!, a gentle, nostalgic story that shows scenes of everyday life through a baby’s perspective, set during World War II.
