Alexander Spiteri

Alexander Spiteri is a Maltese educational researcher and senior education professional known for his work on school leadership, policy reform, and quality assurance in education in Malta. He was one of the first cohort of College Principals when Malta introduced its system of state school “colleges” following the 2006 education reform. This role placed him directly within the new networked governance structure that his later research would critically examine.

Following this early leadership role, he continued to work in senior positions within Malta’s education system, including roles such as: Director for Quality Assurance, Director for Curriculum Management and eLearning within the Directorate for Quality and Standards in Education. He later became a senior executive in the Quality Assurance Unit at the University of Malta, where he has been involved in educational quality processes and institutional development.

Academically, Spiteri has pursued advanced research in education, including doctoral-level work focused on system change, school improvement, and quality assurance frameworks in Malta’s post-2006 education reforms.
