This book is the story of the Guns and Gunners of Malta during the British period. So that the story of the guns can be told in full the book takes into account other arms and services which provided elements of artillery related defence systems and therefore includes reference to the Royal Engineers with their searchlights, mines and Brennan Torpedoes and, of course, to the Royal Navy and the Royal Air Force with which services the Gunners worked very closely, perhaps more closely than any other part of the Army.
