The Compilation of Evidence is the preliminary stage of the whole criminal process. This particular procedure is conducted by a magistrate presiding over the Court of Magistrates as a Court of Criminal Inquiry and aims at gathering all the relevant evidence and documentation for eventual onward transmission to the Criminal Court for the accused to be adjudicated through a trial by jury.
