Welcome to the first issue of Arkivju. This is a new publication which has two principal objective. The first is that of bringing together research work on archives and from archives. In fact in each issue of this annual journal one will find articles which base their subject matter on what is found in the National Archives of Malta. In this way these two principal related themes will be presented in one publication. The second objective of this journal is to act as a showcase of what one can find at the National Archives of Malta – made up of its three depositories located at Rabat (head office) and Mdina in Malta and at Victoria in Gozo.
