Lino Briguglio is Professor of Economics at the University of Malta and was formerly head of its Economics Department. He is the Director of the Islands and Small States Institute and of the Gozo Campus of the same University.
Professor Briguglio has published a large number of studies on islands and small states, one of which is a seminal article on the economic vulnerability of small island states in World Development (September 1995). He has also collaborated closely with the Commonwealth Secretariat on projects relating to economic vulnerability, economic resilience and competitiveness of small states, leading to the publication of four books on these subjects.
Professor Briguglio has acted as consultant to many international organisations and has lectured in various universities worldwide.
