Alfred Fenech
Alfred Fenech is a Maltese author and former police detective whose life story is told in Maltese Detective Constable 614: Against All Odds. The book is a true account of his experiences serving in the Malta Police Force and his varied life after retirement, including his work in animal welfare.
Born during the early part of the 20th century, Fenech — often known as “Freddie” — served as a Detective Constable (No. 614) in Malta, where he investigated serious crimes before retiring from the force in 1979. After leaving the police, he devoted much of his life to helping abandoned dogs and other animals, founding the Association of Abandoned Animals (AAA), an important part of Malta’s animal welfare history. Maltese Detective Constable 614 combines detective stories, personal reflections, and inspiring episodes from his post‑police life, making it appealing to readers who enjoy real‑life crime tales, human‑interest stories, and accounts of compassion for animals.
