Alex Pine

Alex Pine is the pseudonym of a bestselling author who has also written books under the names Jaime Raven, James Raven and JP Carter. He was born and raised on a council estate in South London and left school at sixteen. Before long, he embarked on a career in journalism. His work as a journalist took him around the world, where he reported on a wide range of stories, many of them involving crime, experiences that would later influence his fiction. He then became a television producer and for a number of years was director of a major UK news division and co-owned a TV production company.

Pine made his fiction debut with The Christmas Killer, a gripping seasonal crime novel that introduced Detective Inspector James Walker and established his reputation for crafting suspenseful mysteries set against evocative winter landscapes. Set in the snowbound Cumbrian village of Kirkby Abbey, the novel combines a classic whodunit with psychological suspense and has been praised for its chilling atmosphere and compelling storytelling. It was the first in a successful series featuring DI James Walker.

Drawing inspiration from his love of hiking, the outdoors, and the landscapes of the Lake District, Alex Pine creates richly atmospheric settings that play a central role in his novels. He lives with his wife on the south coast of England, close to the New Forest, where he continues to write crime fiction that blends intricate mysteries, memorable characters, and a strong sense of place, earning him a growing international readership.
