Alessandro Benedetti

Alessandro Benedetti is an Italian collector, researcher, and co-author whose work is dedicated to the preservation and appreciation of the artistic and cultural heritage of vinyl records. Over many years, he has assembled one of the world’s most remarkable collections of rare, innovative, and visually distinctive records, reflecting the evolution of album design, music production, and graphic art. His passion for collecting has contributed to a broader understanding of the artistic value of vinyl beyond its role as a sound-recording medium.

Benedetti is best known as co-author, with Peter Bastine and Giorgio Moroder, of Extraordinary Records, published by TASCHEN in 2024. Produced in collaboration with Colors magazine, the lavishly illustrated volume showcases more than 500 exceptional records drawn principally from the collections of Benedetti and Bastine. The book explores an extraordinary variety of vinyl formats—including coloured, shaped, etched, picture, and rare X-ray records—highlighting the creativity and innovation that have made the vinyl record an iconic object of music, design, and popular culture.
