Airlie Anderson
Airlie Anderson is an American author and illustrator of children’s picture books, best known for Neither: A Story About Being Who You Are. She grew up in California with a passion for reading and drawing, which led her to study illustration at the Rhode Island School of Design — a natural foundation for her career creating books for young readers. Anderson writes and illustrates all her own work, bringing vibrant colours, expressive characters, and thoughtful themes to life on the page. Her books often explore topics of self‑acceptance, identity, and emotional growth in a way that is accessible to children. The book, Neither, for example, uses a whimsical story about a unique creature struggling to fit in to celebrate diversity and encourage inclusivity. Anderson has won several awards for her work, including the Moonbeam Children’s Book Award, the Independent Publisher Book Award, and the Practical Preschool Award. Anderson now lives in New Jersey and continues to create stories that resonate with young audiences, and support conversations about belonging and being true to oneself.
