Adrian Stivala

Adrian Stivala is a Maltese translator and writer known mainly for his work in literary translation and cultural journalism. He is best known for translating the Italian novel Umberto Eco’s Il Nome della Rosa into Maltese, published as Isem il-Warda by Klabb Kotba Maltin (2025). The translation was a major publishing project in Maltese literature, taking several years to complete due to the complexity and multilingual nature of Eco’s original text.

Stivala has worked professionally as a translator and writer within Malta’s cultural and literary scene, contributing articles and commentary on art, theatre, and cultural events in Maltese newspapers such as It-Torċa.
