Adrian Busietta

Adrian Busietta is a Maltese entrepreneur, businessman, and author whose career has spanned international trade, property development, hospitality, technology, and historical research. Over several decades, he played an active role in Malta’s commercial development, pioneering business relationships with international companies and contributing to major investment projects. His entrepreneurial ventures ranged from import-export and hotel construction to representing multinational corporations, while his business activities brought him into contact with prominent international political and commercial figures.

Busietta is the co-author, with Luciano Lo Celso, of The Triangle of Mediterranean: The Knights of Malta Between the Kingdom of Naples and the Arab-Barbary States of the Maghreb (2001). The bilingual historical study examines the political, diplomatic, and maritime relationships between the Knights of Malta, the Kingdom of Naples, and the North African Barbary States. Drawing on historical documents and archival research, the book offers valuable insight into Mediterranean diplomacy, naval conflict, and intercultural relations during a pivotal period in the region’s history, making it a useful resource for historians and readers interested in Mediterranean heritage.

He is also the author of Adrian Busietta – The Autobiography, a memoir chronicling more than fifty years of entrepreneurial activity and public life. The book recounts his experiences in international commerce, property development, and technology while reflecting on significant episodes in Malta’s economic history, including the controversial transition of the National Bank of Malta into the Bank of Valletta. Combining personal recollections with historical commentary, the autobiography provides a first-hand perspective on the evolution of Malta’s business environment and financial institutions during the latter half of the twentieth century.
