Adam Gifford
Adam Gifford is a British mathematics education specialist, former primary school headteacher, and the Series Editor for the New Edition of the Maths — No Problem! Primary Series. He is widely recognised for his expertise in the teaching of mathematics through a mastery-based approach, which focuses on deep conceptual understanding and problem-solving. He also co-hosts the education podcast School of School, where he discusses teaching, curriculum design, and school leadership.
Before joining Maths — No Problem!, Gifford worked extensively in primary education, including roles as a school leader and mathematics specialist leader of education. He was also the strategic primary lead for the National Centre for Excellence in the Teaching of Mathematics (NCETM) Maths Hub programme, where he contributed to curriculum development, teacher training, and national mathematics initiatives. His work has involved collaboration with universities, local authorities, and teaching school alliances across the UK.
Through his role at Maths — No Problem!, Gifford has helped shape one of the most widely used primary mathematics programmes in the UK and internationally. His work focuses on improving pupils’ mathematical fluency, supporting teachers with effective pedagogy, and promoting research-informed teaching practices that build confidence and long-term understanding in mathematics.
