The first cookbook ever written was “Hedypatheia” by Archestratus in 350 BC. The aim of that book was, like cookbooks nowadays, to share knowledge and experience in cookery because cooking is one of life’s pleasures. It’s a pleasure measured at two ends, the craft of cooking and the art of eating well.
